The Iznik Lake environmental route proposed by GoTürkiye divides approximately 130 kilometers into two days. This plan was designed for prepared cyclists who want to experience the lake shore, villages and the historical center of Iznik together, rather than race pace.
The line on the map helps with travel planning; It does not guarantee a bicycle path. Please re-check current conditions on the morning of departure as roadworks, traffic congestion, weather and operating hours may change.

Day 1 — Iznik, Boyalıca and Keramet
Start with equipment control on the shores of Iznik and move towards Boyalıca on the northern line of the lake. Take the wind into account as the north shore contains long, open sections; Plan water and nutrition breaks in settlements.
The Keramet area forms a natural stage end for the first day. Confirm in advance the availability of accommodation, thermal facilities and secure parking for bicycles.
before setting off
- ◆Leave early in the morning; Use a helmet, front-rear lighting and high-visibility vest.
- ◆Carry at least two inner tubes, a pump, basic hand tools and offline route logs.
Day 2 — Return to Sölöz, Göllüce and İznik
The second day passes through more sloping, sometimes narrow sections on the south and southeast shores of the lake. Sölöz and Göllüce stops can be used for rest; Visibility to vehicle traffic is particularly important in this section.
Ending the route at Hagia Sophia and the historical center on the return to Iznik provides a strong finale to the history of the city from the rural landscape. If you are going to spare time to visit the monument after the long stage, check the closing times in advance.
before setting off
- ◆Postpone the south coast leg in wet conditions and poor visibility.
- ◆If you are driving alone, share your location with your loved ones and create an emergency plan.

Who is the Route Suitable for?
Total distance is better suited to cyclists with regular long-distance riding experience due to the variable roadside and effort spread over two days. Beginners should split the route into short coastal stages or plan it with a support vehicle.
Spring and autumn generally offer more stable temperatures; However, wind, precipitation and daylight duration should be evaluated on a daily basis.
